Orchestral Sketches is a series of 3 tone poems mapping the human experience. The first movement, “Longing," touches on man's desire for relationship and community - the desire to be seen and loved by another. The second movement, “Desolation," reflects the aridity that is often felt in our fragmented, isolated society, as well as the interior dryness that can be felt in the various struggles in one's life. The final movement, “Contentment," shows the peace and lilt that is felt in those beautiful moments in life where all is right.
