Matthew Raisch is a composer of modern Concert and Sacred Music and the director of the Schola of the Immaculata. His music has been used in churches across the country, performed in concert, and featured in podcasts and in the award-winning indie film “A Great Day.” Matthew strives to make music that tells a story - music that captivates the listener and lets them step into a world of sound which reflects the beauty and awe that he sees in the world.

With influences from Gregorian Chant and Renaissance Polyphony to modern film and game music, Matthew’s works are narrative and engaging. Tradition meetsmodern harmonies in his pieces, resulting in whimsical, cinematic orchestral scores and enveloping choral works.

As a Catholic, Matthew also strives to create authentic liturgical music for the Holy Mass. These works are especially influenced by polyphony (like that of Palestrina and Byrd), traditional hymnody, Russian church music, and modern composers such as Pärt and Gjeilo.

Matthew has had the privilege of attending the Catholic Sacred Music Project in 2024 as a Composition Auditor and having his work “Victimae Paschali Laudes” selected as a finalist in Spiritus Chamber Choir’s 2026 Composition Competition.
